New Year's in and the pace increases

Having idled over the festive season, things are starting to liven up:  Rex reckons the wings are now ready for some varnishing ahead of their covering.  Although there is the small matter of doing some trial fittings of the wings to fuselage prior to that. The only problem we have with that is space -or rather the lack of it! Where we had a reasonably sized area before there is now a hunking great jet muscling in.  So we'll have to do some delicate negotiating to determine where and when we can do that.

On the flying front, the weather seems to have settled a bit so next week we'll try again to get these aged legs dancing again.  Our mentor tried out his Nieuport 11 the other and described it a "quirky" and "a bit of a handful" -and he's an experienced taildragger so you can imagine what thoughts have been going through my mind!

I think what we'll try to do is get the same test pilot to trial the N16 and see what his opinions are.  One thing he did mention is that it needed quite a lot of right rudder to fly straight so our expert engine installer is thinking that we ought to consider installing some shims in the mounting to counteract that.

It looks like 2012 is going to be a good year!
